Arsenal 2014-2015 Season Review

Another season, another disappointment in the league and Europe. I guess it's just another case of  "what could've been." Where there's always darkness there's a light at the end of the tunnel and I think there's been a slight improvement in this team, and with the quality of Sanchez who knows what the red half of North London can be capable of next season
.
Final League Position: 3rd

FA Cup: Finalists with Aston Villa

Champions League: Knocked out by Monaco in the knock out round

Capital One Cup: Knocked out by Southampton in the third round

Star Player of The Season: Alexis Sanchez

Strengths
This season Arsenal's strengths were the form players of their midfield. On any day with the technical and flair players that we have and especially Sanchez. Arsenal on the counter is not a team to be messed with. Ramsey with another good season whose done a shift on the right has carried on his exploits from last season. Carzola has been a man on a mission in the centre of the park and lastly the emergence of Coquelin whose been on some impressive form since his loan spell at Charlton. He could be the defensive midfielder the Gunners have been calling for if Arsenal don't go for anyone else, as reports are coming in today that Wenger has agreed to sign Juventus lynch pin Vidal whose been one of the best holding midfielders in Europe in past years.

Weaknesses
To win titles you need a strong spine in your team, as we saw with Chelsea in Courtoi, Terry, Matic/Fabregas and Costa who all had a stellar season at Stamford bridge, which lead them to the title this season. Arsenal's spine is weak at moment and not up to scratch with the other top teams, hence why the North London side have not been able to match themselves with  the other big boys in the league and in Europe. Holding midfield is the biggest concern and a world class keeper as I believe Ospina and Szczesny are not the keepers that will save us points but cost us points which has been evident this season.

Areas of Improvement
Like I said, many fans say and what many of top pundits have said in this country is that we need more world class players in the team, we still lack a world class striker, Giroud has had some good form since the turn of the year. But he needs a partner that he can play with or have more competition for strikers. Welbeck has been below par and I don't see Sanogo upping his game either. The holding midfield situation looks likely to be resolved as it looks like Vidal is coming to North London. But the main improvement that needs to be made at Arsenal is change of manager. Wenger is yesterdays man his tactical nous has been too poor when we've been chasing games especially in the big ones which  is a cause for concern. His excuse on why we haven't done well in the last ten years is making many wonder including myself what the hell he's doing and the most concerning issues is not buying players that we needed and lacked in past season's. For years the spine of team has needed to be changed we have not replaced Henry or Seamen or even Viera. The only way if this team goes forward is if there's a manager that can solve solutions quickly, bring a winning mentality which the squad lacks and depth to the team then Arsenal will once be the team they were in last couple of decades. Merely making it to Europe and a FA Cup here and there is not going to paper the cracks where there is so much potential in the team.
